Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel is a casino and hotel complex located on the Lower Sioux Indian Reservation located along the southern bank of the Minnesota River in Redwood County, Minnesota, just south of the city of Morton. The 46,520 sq ft (4,322 m2) casino[1] is owned and operated by the Lower Sioux Indian Community. Lodging includes a 379-room hotel and a 40 space recreational vehicle park. In addition to the casino, there are several restaurants, a convention center, a Rees Jones-designed golf course, and two live entertainment venues.

Jackpot Junction was the first casino in the state of Minnesota.[2]

In 1984, Jackpot Junction opened as a bingo hall. In 1988, Tables and slot machines were added. In 1995, The Lower Sioux Lodge was added. In 1996, A convention center was added. In 1998, The casino becomes the sponsor for the IMCA KSE Racing Products Sprint Cars tour.[3] In 1999, an amphitheater was built. In 2000, the Dacotah Ridge Golf Club opened. In 2000, The Lower Sioux Lodge expanded to 276 rooms. In 2008, A new convention center was built (replacing the old one) and the Lower Sioux Lodge added a new wing, bringing its total number of hotel rooms to 379. The pool/spa area was also renovated and the Carousel Buffet became Seasons Buffet.

Gaming[edit]

The casino initially opened as a bingo hall in 1984. Four years later, both slots and table games were added.

Jackpot Junction has over 1,000 video slot machines as well as over 20 blackjack tables. There is one poker table located in the old 'Skyline' casino area.[4]

Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel, wholly owned and operated by the Lower Sioux Indian Community in the State of Minnesota (“Jackpot”), will open its first phase to the public on June 1, 2020 with reduced gaming hours. Jackpot’s reduced gaming hours are available at www.jackpotjunction.com.
All guests and employees will have their temperatures checked by no-contact thermal cameras before entering the property and will be required to wear face masks while on the property. Single use masks will also be available to guests at no charge. Guests will also be able to purchase masks for a nominal cost.

Jackpot will allow 50% capacity at this time on the gaming floor, food and beverage establishments and hotel. Guests must maintain social distancing six feet away from others. Plexiglass shields have been installed for all high-volume contact areas to allow for appropriate social distancing between guests. Bingo, concerts and pull tabs are not available at this time.

Jackpot employees will receive training on COVID-19 safety and sanitation protocols, and appropriate PPE will be worn by all employees based on their role and responsibilities.
All public areas will be cleaned and sanitized routinely, and Jackpot employees’ health will be monitored regularly. The hotel will also open on June 1, 2020 and will now be smoke-free. The pool area, fitness room, arcade, and business center will remain closed.
Jackpot applies industry standard cleaning products and protocol that meet EPA guidelines on all touch points of the casino, hotel and gas station. Jackpot will offer guests the use of stylus pens at kiosks, gaming machines, and ATMs to limit the amount of touching. Hotel rooms will be routinely sanitized. Jackpot will also provide hand sanitizers throughout the facility. Buffet service at Jackpot’s food and beverage establishments remain closed. There will be limited menu options.
